its basically Linux with a windows emulator, forgot what the project was called, it runs from windows with the installer and it installs in your Windows HDD without needing to create a extra partition.

It adds its boot loader and you can boot windows or Lindows easily.
The GUI is ok, but in a marketing gimmick it can't seem to read standard UNIX .rpg files, so you have to buy software packages from their website.

i kinda figure it to be a flash-in-the-pan, but got it, to have it. i noticed the software from thier site only, thats why i have not bothered to install it, most of what i run demands windows, but redhat is sweet. wish i could fully make the switch, but, for one, 99% of the computers i see and work on run a windows platform. so guess it helps using it, cause i crash my systems in every mannor you can imagine trying new software, hardware setups...ect. i would like software to be more linux supportive, which is largly the case, but i play alot of games and to date windows has to be the os to run them on. i dont like to get into windows linux postings like i see here, they both have good and bad, i like both for different reasons. it would be nice to see a bold change in either. but for now i guess i am happy that i dont have to use windows 95/98/ME ever again as a personal os. i used nt till 2k came out, then went to xp and now server2k3, thinking of going back to xp, i really dont like server 2k3 as a os, works fine on my server, but not as a personal computer, anyone gonna get the new media edition xp comming out, not the plus media edition, but the operating system? longhorn looks like msn 8 everywhere you look in it. but still look foward to having a copy.

Lindows uses wine - a rather cheesy version at that.

But Lindows does have the "click and run" deal - just select any app you want froma (constantly updated list) and it DL's and installs the software automagically. however, you need a subscription for click and run with is like 80 bucks a year last I checked.

Why pay for it when you can get the same stuff free or get a nice boxed set of SuSE?
