Windows XP/MS Office

Hi. I just bought a new computer with Windows XP Pro. I did not get MS Office with it. Someone recommended I buy MS Office off of ebay instead to save money. Also recommended MS Office 2000 instead of MS Office XP for non-registration purposes.

Is this a good idea, and will it work ? Also, how will this effect the MS Outlook, which came with my computer ?

Thanks.

Doesn't matter where you buy it from, as long as it is a legal copy, did you computer come with MS outlook or you meant to say Outlook express ? Office 2000 works just as good as Office XP, I have used both of them and I would suggest to go with the cheaper one.

cheers

Thanks for the response.

Yes, I just checked again, and it is Outlook Express. I imagine that won't interfere with regular Outlook.

Thanks again !!

When you install Outlook you will be asked if you wish to make that your default mail client (either at install or first invocation, can't remember which). In any event you can change your selection using "Set Program Access and Defaults" via "Start".
I use Outlook (Office 2003) in preference to OE, but that is a personal view.
