Post Image Recognition Software.

Dear Friends,

Could anyone point out to me a commercially available software which could help me perform efficiently the following task.

Basically, I need a image recognition software capable of distinguishing between different versions of the same image. Hence, I am cataloging 100 different examples of the same ancient coin originating from different sites. As ancient coins were usually minted using negative molds which more often than not didn’t last very long, it is very likely that the above mentioned coins were produced using more than one mold. Since the molds were hand made, each one of them was slightly dissimilar from the others.

The software that I am looking for must be able to pick up these small differences and tell me which coins were minted using the same mold.

Thanks

Daniele

If any such application is available I doubt it will do what you want.

2 coins may not be recognised as coming from the same mould because of wear and tear blemishes that can alter the appearance.

Have a look at Finger Print Matching Software ...

Hi Daniel
This is an area I know quite a lot about but think you may have a misconception of the complexity involved.

Sotware like face recognition and fingerprint recognition use points to identify and measure. Therefor the softwae would be looking for specific things. Therefore none of these would work.

If you were just trying to compare say find all pictures with cars in on your hard drive you may try http://gpr.host-ed.net or read the information on the site it will explain the complexity behind picture recognition.

Software has moved version 2 soon available

Please do not use the following web-site http://gpr.host-ed.net
use the new web-site where version 2 will be available that now includes AI or Artificial Intelligence. This software has improved and you can now select objects in your sample pictures to search against. Greate if your into photography and need to search through thousands of photos

Version 2 is much improved
