Question Remaining file deletion

McAfee Uninstall left some files in program-files on my computer. Now I get messages daily requesting an online connection for updates. I no longer use McAfee but there is no entry Add/Remove programs for these remaining files. Are there utilites available to delete program files and clean up the registry at the same time? There are mcafee entries in msconfig - startup. When I uncheck, checked entries reappear, like magic.

Any suggestions????

You may have to hunt some of it down manually but jv16 powertools will clean alot of it up for free

you might want to hunt around for a monitoring uninstaller as well. I've been using total uninstall - another freebie

When I run the registry tool for installed software (which is very fast!) I can find mcafee.com agent and mcafee.com sheared modules listed. There is a grey circle with a ? inside. Can I check and remove safely?

Try Downloads.com they have a bunch of free/shareware uninstallers. Alot of them take care of your registry also, the problem you may run into tho is that most of them have to have been installed before the program you're trying to uninstall. Your best bet might be to google it around for a while and find a tutorial from someone else who had the problem too.

Usally if there is doubt just leave them. Or if you have them backedup go ahead and delete them and restore if you have a problem. http://www.simtel.net/pub/pd/61416.html
