Email attachments are stored with the emails in your personal *.PST file.

The *.PST file is opened with Outlook.

If you want to save the attachment separately you need to have Outlook open > and Right Click the attachment > Save As and save to a location that you can access without needing to open Outlook.

Thanks Loose chippings
I guess I didn't explain well. I'm trying to find where the PST files are located. I've been able to find them on older versions, But 2003 has me stumped. A search of my system has turned up nothing.

You can find out where your .PST files are by going to Start > Search > "All files and folders" and putting *.pst in the box that says "All or part of the file name:".

I'm able to locate the PST files But they can only be opened by Outlook.
In older version, it was possible to view all attachments within the file. Perhaps that just isn't possible with 2003.

My goal is to be able to scan the attachments without having to open each email individually.

Hi there,

I'm just new here but this would be helpful, this is the original path of 2003 outlook.

C:\Documents and Settings\John\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

you can copy the .PST file to another drive like d: so that when it crash you dont have to wory about your email file to be lost.

now if you want to scan your attachement for virus, you can set that under the options of your anti-virus..im using norton 2004 its very easy to do..

Hope this could help...
