batch file?

I run about 6 different programs when I connect to the internet. I had them all in a batch file in windows 98 so that they would run from one click. I have recently migrated to windows xp (ntfs) and would like to be able to do the same. Is there a way to do something like that in xp? I have tried everything I know but only get the 1st command to run. Thanks
Ed
