word 2002 problem

Hi all

i have windows xp and have been using microsoft word 2002 no problems for nearly a year.
All of a sudden half ay through a letter without warniing it pops up with the following error.

MCROSOFT VISUAL C - RUNTIME LIBRARY

RUNTIME ERROR

PROGRAM C:/PROGRAMME FILES/MICROSOFT OFFICE/OFFICE 10/WINWORD.EXE

ABRNORMAL PROGRAM TERMINATION.

When this pops up and i close the error it closes word down so i have to start again.

Anyone had this or know how to fix it??

The Microsoft Knowledge Base article, Error Message: Run-time Error! Winword.exe Abnormal Program Termination should provide the fix.

Deleting (or renaming, the result is the same) the "normal.dot" file fixes the problem more often than not. It's a hidden file so before running a search for it, open My Computer, go to Tools>Folder Options>View tab and make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
