image downloader

i am looking for a mass image downloader that is smart enough to follow links, not just download all the images in a directory. i have tried several, so far, but they don't follow the links represented by thumbnails. the images are not in the same location on the server as the thumbnails, and an exact file name must be entered in order to get to a picture.
