Anti-Virus programs?...
Hi there...
What is everyone's favourite Anti-Virus program?..The reason I am asking is I have had NORTON 2003 running on WINDOWS PROFESSIONAL but it seems a bit unstable. Can any members suggest another good Anti-virus program?
Thanks,
Best regards...Colin....

I'd reinstall Norton 2003 then. I have been using Norton for many years now. In my opinion, its the best out there. Others may disagree.
I currently use Norton Systemworks Pro 2003 on all my Windows XP Professional systems and it works without a hitch.
Again, I would reinstall. If it still causes problems, I guess you could try McAfee to see if that works alright for you.

If you have problems with Norton 2003, use 2002 instead. Norton is the acknowledged "king of the hill".

When I had a problem with 2003 I went back to 2002. I've decided that I'll stick with 2002, not only because I used it trouble free all year, but because in the short time I had 2003 I wasn't able to find a feature (virus scan exceptions) that I liked. Apparently, they removed the feature in the new version. I have the Encyclopedia Britannica 2003 on my hard drive and Norton adds 2.5 hours to a hard drive scan to get through the Britannica program. In 2002 I was able to do a virus scan and tell Norton to skip the Encyclodedia, I couldn't do that in 2003.

Actually, I found the exception list in Norton 2003
Open up Norton
Go to Anti-virus options
Click on Exclusions
You can add files you don't want scanned, not just extensions, but actual filenames.

Thanks, but I'm not sure I want 2003 back. 2002 never gave me any trouble and its working perfectly well now. Also, I don't know how I'd go about getting it back since I don't have a disk (I downloaded it from the Symantic site and removed all components when I started have trouble with it and re-installed 2002).

MessageLabs, a company the provides e-mail filtering services to government and enterprise clients, says that it found 1 virus in every 212 e-mails and 1 in every 12 e-mails is unsolicited spam.
They predict that spam will out number legitimate messages by the end of 2003.
I don't have a problem with either so its difficult for me to say anything negative about Norton Internet Security (its either doing its job or I'm incredibly lucky).

The price for Norton Anti-virus 2003 is down to $17.95 after rebate.

I have paid for Norton Antivirus and McAfee and tried them both and I ended up with free AVG from Grisoft.Com and never any problems since.

AVG is popular and well respected. They came out with a new version (I think it's 7.0) a couple of weeks ago.
