Post DVD R question.

Can someone here explain to me, what is the difference between a DVD -R and a DVD +R blank disk?

I've tried searching this one on google, but no luck.

Thanks!

Google Search: "DVD-R vs. DVD+R"

The main difference between the two is the recording format (i.e. the file system). -R seems to be more compatible, while +R claims to be more technologically advanced.

If you're going for burning DVD movies, I'd say go for -R's from what I've read.

I'll second that - DVD-R is likely to be more compatible across different players and DVD-ROM drives. many DVD-ROM drives (even recent one's) cannot read DVD+R. My folks bought me a DVD+R writer. Problem is, only that writer can read them. My Laptop DVD-ROM and Desktop DVD-ROM won't read them, but DVD-R is no problem (only thing is - had to buy my own DVD-R writer!).
