copying files from an nfts drive to a fat32 drive

I am looking for a way to copy or move the files from an NTFS drive back over to a FAT32 drive. I'll have to do it from dos, because XP is not allowing me back into windows.

I have Partition Magic 7.0 rescue disks but I have not tried that yet.

Can anyone help.

NTFSDOS will do it.
Why not do a repair install and save the work

I have two hard drives on my computer...I have two Identical OS too (Win XP Pro on both) Drive C is NTFS and Drive D is FAT 32.
I access, move, copy, and play with files on both drives all the time....I never have a problem....I would suggest that you get yourself a really good file management program like Power Desk 5, 'cause that would make all this possible....It's easy, safe and I believe it may still be free. Ontrack made and designed this great program, but I believe they are now owned by V-Com...check it out and you won't have to bother with dos.

Kabala can not get into XP, so dos is his only option. (unless of course he installs XP on another drive and uses that for retrieval)

When I am booting up....I choose which OS to log into....It never matters as to which when I change files from drive to drive. So, I wonder why his version of XP does not allow this to happen

As an experiment: This weekend, I am rebuilding an old computer.
I shall install an additional 40 gig hard drive and format both drives. I will then install Win XP Pro on one of the drives plus load some software on both drives....Actually I'm almost done with this little experiment...by tomorrow, I shall know for certain if there is any problem accessing any info from either drive....I'll let you know how this turns out....I am sure that I shall be able to transfer, copy, move, access any and all files....We shall see!

Drive C (40 gigs) will be Fat 32
Drive D ( 6 gigs) will be NFTS

Of course you can, XP reads both filesystems.
Kabala can't load XP at all, so he needs some form of access to NTFS. The two options i stated will allow that.
As of course will a repair.

A couple of possibilities:

1. Get the free read-only DOS driver for NTFS from http://www.systeminternals.com/ntw2k...NTFSDOS.shtml. Add the files to a normal DOS (e.g., Win98/ME) boot disk and then you can copy from NTFS to FAT32.

2. Use the XP CDROM to boot into the "recovery console". The recovery console is a DOS-like envirnoment that supports limited commands, but COPY is one of them.

3. Use the XP CDROM to perform a "repair" installation of XP. This should (in theory) revive XP. However, it will undo any updates and service packs for XP that you might have installed. It should not remove user files, and it should keep user settings.
