Recommendations on CD/DVD burner and backup programs.

I currently have Record Now as a CD/DVD burner and was looking at getting the companion program, Simple Backup, but I'm not really that happy with Record Now (it came bundled with the PC). I'm primarily interested in using the CD/DVD burners for backing up data files, I'm not too interested in music or video ripping and the like. I have an HP Pavilion a430n, XP/SP2.

I really liked my roommate's program, Easy CD Creator by Adaptec, problem is the CD I formatted on her pc (W98) can't be read by mine for some reason (CD-RW, 700mb, 1x-4x) when I tried to copy some data files to it on my pc. I went to Adaptec's website to see if I could find an XP version, but apparently they now use Sonic's Record Now and Easy CD Creator is now a Roxio product, hoo-boy.

Recommendations?

Try CDBurnerXP Pro. It's a free program, made to use with XP. I was amazed at how fast the burning process was, compared to my old burning software.

I took a look at it. Nice program, but a little too technical for my needs. I guess I'm primarily interested in a program that's mainly a backup mgr that will work with CD-RW and DVD, rather than a program that's mostly a burner that could also do backups, e.g. I'm trying Genie Backup Mgr trial version, which so far is great, but at $50+, it's a little out of my price range.
