spybot gone nutty
you may be aware i did a factory restore and now im having some glitches.
the latest one is with spybot..the version i had before was the 1.2 edition, when i d/l it onto the pc this morning it was the 1.3 version.
now i find that when i go on particular sites a pop up box comes up to say that spybot is blocking something or other, and i cant get the page to load.
it never did that when it was the 1.2 and so ive uninstalled it till someone can give me some advice.
one of the things it was having trouble with was "double click"which stopped tiscali forums from loading.

Try dl'ing the latest version of S&D, radspanner, updating it immediately prior to running: -
Spybot - Search and Destroy DSO Exploit Fix 1.3.1 TX
Naturally, disable System Restore prioir to scanning and fixing, if applicable, and then re-enable after, if you wish: -

How to turn on and turn off System Restore in Windows XP
If that doesn't resolve the issue, please reply back stating the exact message as it appears on the screen.
Good luck.................

When you installed the new version of Spybot, you probably enabled Tea Timer, which is a sort of spyware blocker. Users have reported problems with it.
When you uninstall Spybot, it usually leaves a folder behind with a "configuration.ini" file in it. If that folder isn't deleted before a reinstall, the old settings will be remembered. So, first delete any Spybot - Search & Destroy folder remaing on the harddrive. In Windows XP it will be located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data. I think in Win9x/ME, it's located in C:\Program Files
Then reinstall Spybot and uncheck the Tea Timer option during the install. See if that solves the problem.
The "double click" that's being blocked is an ad server/cookie setting advertising thing. Spybot has evidently been configured to block it and the page you referred to won't finish loading, or will take forever to load, until you accept the double click stuff.

bloody hell you guys, thanks for all your help, thanks to you miz, did as you told me to and now all appears well.also many thanks to you jazz, its not the first time youve got me out of a hole!!!
to tell you the truth i tried to d/l avg without setting up the firewall and antivirus that came installed with the pc. in the short time i was downloading, the pc got infested with trojans and all sorts of trouble.(about 3 mins).
so i did another restore yesterday and took more time with it.so ive installed the norton that came with our pc . i will put zone alarm and avg back on in due course.
you guys are the best and its all free advice. it costs me £1.50 to talk to my pc helpline, keep up the good work chaps.
mrs radspanner says thanks to.weve not had such a bad sunday after all.
one other thing about the spybot d/l, on the site i got from google, it advises you not to download that version of spybot.check it out for yourself.....

I'm led to believe it's been 'fixed'...I use this version and nothings picked up.
Don't forget though, you must install 1.3 Final first.
