Recording things on your comp as AVI?

Hello,

First of all I am a new user here and I have a specific question. I hope this forum is a suitable place.

I want to record what's going on on my screen as AVI file (prefferably), so I have both video and audio. (video is most important).

Is there any software tool I can use to do that? How can I do that?

EDIT: I dont really want to record video stream, since I don't have any URL with a specific movie. I use Internet application and I'd like to record as things look on my screen. Is that possible? Can someone advise?

Thanks

jericho121, Welcome to this Forum.

I'm' going to ask you what I asked many people, what are you trying to record ? do you want to take a snap shot of your screen to see what is going on when you are not there ? or you want to record what you stream down (Video and Audio) ? is you explain your situation then may be some one could suggest a good software for it.

cheers

Hello and I'm glad that someone addressed this issue.

Since yesterday I madd progress and I'm almost where I want to be, almost.

What I want to do: I want to record video with what's going on on my screen (veideo screen capture). I'm also using Skype and I want to record sound, both mic (what I speak) and speakers (what the other side speaks).

With video I found a great program called SnagIt, it captures my screen into a video perfectly. I can even capture a region of the screen. But it only captures my mic, I can't record the opther side speaking. How can I solve that?
