partitioning my new hardrive
Hello to all i have recently purchased a toshiba labtop, with a 60 gb hard drive. What i would like to do is partition the drive into a 10 & 50 gb drives with xp on the larger and w2k on the lesser. I have got partition magic 6 and no matter what i do iam unable to partition the drive (c:/). What happens is that when partition magic opens it showns the active c:/ with no unused space . Since this is a new pc there is gb's of free spaces , . From what ive gathered from reading the manual is that what i need to do is resize the C:/ drive freeing up space for the creation on a new partition. Unfortunately this isnt possible as the drive is showing up to be using the entire 60 gb. What i can do is format the drive using the tool and then resize the c:/ drive allocating 10 gb for the new partition which would seam like the ideal result but , when i purchased the labtop i was given which seams to be standard nowadays a recovery disk and not a win xp installation disk. So as u can guess i cannot install win xp without restoring pc to just the c:/ with 60 gb. Any advice or help or possible tools i could use would be greatly appreciated.
thank u in response
kind regards
p.j.
