Delayed IE launch

PC:

Dell Dimension 8300
3.0 Pent 4
1gb Ram
120bg HD
ATI Radeon 9800 pro 256
Windows XP Pro SP2
Norton Internet Security 2004 w/firewall
Spybot 1.3 & Xoftspy 4.01
Netzero Platinum Hispeed 7.0

Problem:

When I connect through Netzero the NZ software loads fine, but IE doesn't launch, then I can't launch any application, for like 3-5 minutes until my homepage pops up, I can open folders, and use menus but no applications will pop up until the first one does, then everything works fine

I tried Netzero support they said it was Spyware so I got Spyware programs and removed a bunch of crap, but that didn't work

I've also tried to uninstall Netzero and reinstall
I've tried with my firewall turned off
I tried opening IE before Netzero, it opens but no pages will load untill the hompage pops up
I checked my firewall rules
I've uninstalled any IE toolbars or unneeded plug-ins
I've updated all my software
I've reduced my startup items to save memory, but I don't have many apps that run in the backround

Please Help

The most annoying problem ever! I've had the same problem, and it's a trojan horse that's present on your pc. I recently upgraded from Mcafee VirusScan 8.0 to 9.0 and found the Trojan on my pc. I did'nt even know that it was on my pc until I started scanning!
To remove the trojan, UPGRADE the anti-virus software, (if any)
and UPDATE the definitions. it'll also help to get anti-spyware software and update the def's for those, too. Then scan in safe mode and you'll find the virus.

EDIT: btw,Don't even try to change the modem configuration, either. Didn't work for me.
And welcome to the forum's!
