IE corrupted?

It appears that Internet Explorer 6 has become corrupted on my computer. I get random error messages which force me to shut down the program. Is there a safe way to uninstall this program and re-install it without losing my favorites, cookies, etc?

If you are using anything other than Xp, you can uninstall it or reinstall. In xp, IE is integral to the operating system so uninstalling it is not an option. My advice to you is not to use IE. Use an alternate browser that can be uninstalled and installed. There are many and it can save you head aches.
Good alternate browsers are Opera, Mozilla, Firefox. Some based on IE are Slimbrowser, Maxthon, Green, Crazy, and Avant.

In addition to the comments made by s7p9a2m4, you can export your favourites to floppy, separate partitions, etcetera, as per the following: -

File > Import and Export > Next > (highlight 'Export Favourites') > Next > (highlight 'Favourites') > Next > (browse to location where you want to save your favourites) > Next > Finish > Ok.

Good point Jazz! I regularly backup my favourites online (yahoo briefcase or any email account).

i personally recommend firefox as it is one of the most popular and has lots of good features. It is open source(although not always a good thing) and free. Although it is for you to decide, i tell most people to use firefox.
