Norton Ghost 9.0 Question
I want to create backups of my systems’ C drives onto DVD-ROM drives. Ghost 9.0 includes support for this operation over the network. I have setup and tested sharing the DVD-ROM drive and it is functional. Ghost 9.0 is installed on both computers. All computers belong to the same workgroup, are all assigned IPs from the same class C network all can see one another and ping each other, and all computers can otherwise communicate with one another. All users are setup as administrators.
Problem: When configuring Ghost to backup the C drive, it prompts for domain, username, and password. Domain = Workgroup, username = user logged in on PC to be backed up, password = password for same user. No combination works. Ghost fails to connect to device.
Workaround used: To send data to another hard drive on PC being backed up, splitting the file into <4.7GB pieces which can then be sent to the DVD-ROM drive. That works but includes an extra step I should not have to do according to Symantec’s claims for Ghost 9.0.
Desired solution: Get Ghost to work as advertised. I want to connect and write directly to the DVD-ROM drive.
Help and suggestions are appreciated.
