Norton Anti Virus on Win XP

Help!!!

I started to install Norton Anti Virus 2005 after I first removed my old version.

In the middle of the installation we had a power cut and my computer shut down completely. As it was in the middle it seems that some of the files are now in my registry and when I tried to start all over again I get a message that another session of Install is running. On the otherhand it doesn't appear in the list of programs so I can try to uninstall it.

Is there anything I can do??? I am a bit worried as now my computer has no anti virus al atll!

Why don't you try a System Restore to the point before you tried installing 2005. Since is was not completely installed, using sys restore may just remove those files.

For removing NAV 2003 they have a (removal tool) for removing all traces from your registry. I tried to search for a similar tool to remove NAV 2005, but could not find one. I only found this page, which unfortunately, is a bit more complicated. http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...c= #_Section1

If the System Restore works for you, follow the steps you previously did (to remove your old version) and I would suggest running this tool, before you begin to install NAV 2005 again. ( Rnav2003.exe removal utility) on this page. http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...=1#_Sec tion1 Hope this helps.

I had a work PC with similar problem, posted to symantec about it.

They told me to go into safe mode and delete the entire NORTON's folder, then launch the cd to install it.

Worked fine - machine booted with nortons functional.

This would have been Nortons 2003
