Using Powerpoint Viewer on Outlook Express Attachments
I'm trying to help someone out viewing ".pps" files. He does not have microsoft office on his PC. I downloaded the powerpoint viewer for Windows Xp from the microsoft website to his PC and installed it. If I use windows explorer and double click on a ".pps" file, everything works fine. If, however, the ".pps" file is an attachment to an email in outlook express, when I double click on the attachment I get a message telling me that windows doesn't know what application to associate with the file type and I should go to the control panel to associate an application with the file extension type. Of course, when I do this, it only verifies that windows Xp already knows to use powerpoint viewer for a ".pps" file. For some reason, outlook express doesn't recognize the application associated with the file type. I poked around outlook express but couldn't find anything. Am I missing something?
I told him to just save the attachment to a folder somewhere and then go that folder in windows explorer and double click it. This works fine as a workaround.
Any suggestions?
