DVD Decoder/Interactual Player

Ok, I just installed a DVD+RW, and I had Interactual player and apparently the decoder before my hard drive crashed, because I was able to watch DVD's. I dont have the disc to re-install it. Is there some way to get it without paying for it?

When I tried using it, and error message showed:
"Playback failed due to a problem with the video subsystem. Lowering your screen resolution or color depth may fix the problem."
I lowered my screen resolution from 1024x768 to 800x600 and changed the colors from 32 bit to 256, and i get the same message. I then tried windows media player and it gave me an error message saying i didnt have the proper DVD decoder. Where are these available?

how did you get the program before? I ask because if you have a major brand computer, and it came preinstalled with it, it may be on your restore (or whatever) disks. if this is the case, you can probably open the disks in explorer, and do some poking around. you may be surprised at the software you find on these disks.

Well I have System Recovery Disks... that's it. Which restores my PC to the way I bought it... with Windows ME on it.

There is an Application Recovery CD which I tried and it told me that its only for use on a HP Pavillion PC (which I have!) I tried just viewing the contencts...its got drivers and the recovery and that's it. So they are useless to me.

right. good. remember, there is nothing magical about the recovery disks. full of folders that contain apps like windows and such. if you slide one in, bypass autoplay (i think it is shift until the busy cd mouse icon goes away) then just open in explorer, and search around until either you see something that looks familiar, or you have to run the installers to find out what they are. but after a little time you will find what you are after, and possibly some other cool stuff you forgot about. hope this helps. otherwise, e-mail me (in profile).

Thumbs up Possible Solution

If you have any of the Lord of the Rings series DVD's, they contain the drivers and software for InterActual Player. It should install automatically.
