Nero Digital Audio

Nero 6 Reloaded offers to make a Digital Audio DVD but wants Nero Digital Audio Files. How are these recorded?

Open nero 'StartSmart'. Hover your mouse over the musical-note icon (Audio) at the top, and click on the third item down 'Encode Audio Files'. Click the 'Add Files' button to import the files you want to convert. By default, the codec should already be set to 'Nero Digital Audio mp4' . Be aware this format will only play on media players which can decode mp4 files (WMP 9 won't). I expect Nero media Player will play mp4 but you are severley limiting your playback options with mp4 as things stand. And I don't know of a standalone dvd player that reads mp4. You must have a very compelling reason for using what is at present an obscure, little used format.

Personally I would suggest you save all files as MP3, most modern CD players can read MP3 but not MP4 - MP4 was created for Video use MPEG 4 audio tracking I believe, MPEG4 is used mainly on the latest cheapy video recorders and full screen quality is not that good unless you view it from about 5miles.

Thumbs up

Thank you for the replies.

Opened Start Smart and at the top it is set for CD/DVD, hovered over the note and there are 8 options, none of them are encode audio files, however, I noticed you can make MP3 DVD which is suitable, as I only want to stick a lot of tracks on one disc

I'm using latest version of nero (6.6 Enterprise Edition) so perhaps yours is an earlier version. however, even earlier versions have a audio converter, just needs starting from a different place. If you ever need it: Open 'nero burning rom'. cancel the 'new compilation' box. Click on the 'extras' menu at the top - then you should see 'Encode Files' in the drop-down list. be aware, however, that encoding in mp3 is limited to a certain number of uses (30 I think) until you unlock it with a key from Ahead's website for a small charge. It's to do with licensing restrictions by the people who developed mp3.
