installation simms2 problems

hi can anyone help, when i try to install the sims2 i get to disk 3 of 4 and my entire comp freezes and installation stops.???, i have uninstalled all previous traces from the registry, cleaned up the computer, diabled firewall and virus, made sure no background applications are running, all drivers etc are compatible, got enough space, tried the xp fix, and still this happens anyone got any solutions please???? im running windows xp home, on ntfs sys,
