Question on burning photos

I was hoping someone could help me. I'm trying burn photos so they can be viewed on a dvd player. I'm using Nero Express 6. I'm having lots of trouble. This nero cd comes with Nero Vision Express 2 SE, and Nero Start Smart. I've been playing around with it and have had no luck. Am I making a video cd or a photo slide show, or a vcd, or a svcd. This program is confusing. The pictures I'm using are in jpeg format. Some of the relatives that I want to give the dvd copy to might have older dvd players and some might have new. Any help in this matter will be appreciated. P.S. I'm running windows xp. Thanks, Genevive

I think you want to make a video CD (VCD) some older DVD players will not play SVCD (Super VCD). Try that first and see how you get on. Remeber you are not making a DATA CD unless you want to read the CD from a computer. A computer however will read VCD (an in the main SVD) and DATA disks (simply by copying the JPEG files to the CD).

Newer programs make this type of creation easier by using a wizard - I'm unsure how Nero 6 goes about it. Hope this helps.
