questions about Microsoft's intellipoint software

I recently purchased a Microsoft wireless optical mouse to replace wired optical mouse from about 2 years ago. They are both 5 button versions. With the first mouse the intellipoint software (version 3.2) would allow me to program any of the buttons to be either "delete" or "escape". In the new version these options are not available. Is there by any chance a fix for this? My guess is there is not, but I thought it worth asking.
