MS Works 2004 & Word 2002

I bought a Presario in 7/2004 that had pre-bundled MS Works 2004, which included MS Word 2002. Everything worked fine until recently when I had a hard drive crash and had to go through system recovery. For some reason, system recovery did not reload MS Works or Word so I had to reload it using backup CDs which came with the PC. There are 5 CDs in the "Microsoft Works Suite 2004"...the first one has four programs on it...including MS Works 7.0 and MS Word 2002. After loading the software, all programs work except MS Word 2002. When I click on that, a window appears requesting a product key. I found a 25-character product key for Word on the back of the MS Works Suite 2004 box. But when I type it in, another window appears saying it is an invalid product key. Microsoft's online support directs me to HP, saying I've been given the wrong product key. I've been through three sessions of phone support with HP, and a series of email queries. But it has all run into a dead end. Please advise.
