Norton And Outlook Conflict ! Please Help

I cant send emails without turning off my Norton Internet Security 2005. If I do this I am unprotected against everything coming in!And I shouldnt have to do this ! Please Help. I tried asking my provider and they said talk to norton, so I talked to them and they said bla bla bla (everything was ok on there end)so then I tried Mr Gates (on his cell) but he was out to lunch! So hear I ask. Please.
