Hi,

First close all browser windows, go to "start"-->"control panel"-->"Java plug-in"-->"Cache"-->then clear the JAR Cache.

Next download CWShredder from the link below and run it, let it fix anything it finds:

http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract..._download.html

Next run your virus scans again. Make sure you try a few different online virus scans. Then folow the instuctions below:

Before you do anything else, please create a folder for HijackThis and put it in a permanent folder (like C:\HJT) instead of the Temp folder. This is required because HijackThis will create backups and we don't want them to be deleted. Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):

ifdccvt.exe

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O3 - Toolbar: Norton AntiVirus - {42CDD1BF-3FFB-4238-8AD1-7859DF00B1D6} - C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\NavShExt.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ylmiwbil] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ifdccvt.exe
O15 - ProtocolDefaults: 'http' protocol is in Trusted Zone, should be Internet Zone (HKLM)
O16 - DPF: {DF780F87-FF2B-4DF8-92D0-73DB16A1543A} (PopCapLoader Object) - http://anu.popcap.com/games/popcaploader_v5.cab

Delete the following File.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\ifdccvt.exe

Reboot into Normal Mode and run new HijackThis scan. If there were some entries that didn't show up in Safe Mode, you may check and fix those that appear now in normal mode (if you do that, make sure to run a new scan again). Save the log file and post in this thread.

Hi Pam.

Your new log is clean, well done. Although I see you didnt make a permanent folder for HiJackThis, if you run HJT again I suggest you do so. Now all you have to do is try and prevent this from happening again.

Have a read through this:

thank you!

Hi...
Thanks so much for your help... i did create a folder... not sure why it isn't showing on the scan... maybe I did something wrong...
Also... not sure what else I can do to avoid what happens... i have norton and i run a bunch of scans that are on this discussion forum (trend, pandasoftware, etc) and i have spybot and adaware... etc etc....
of course my kids love to play games and i go insane every time they start "chatting"!!!!!!!!!
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....
Thanks again for your help.... I can follow directions pretty well but I can't read the Hijack scan to save my life!
Pam
