problem installing NAV 2005

this keeps happening and i have no clue why. i have had previous versions of norton installed on my computer but ive never had this problem.

when i try to install norton to my computer it says "norton antivirus 2005 installation has failed. do you want to try to install again?"

i click no and it says" the installation encounterd an error and is unable to continue."

please help, thanks in advance

oh btw i have windows xp home edition.

Smile Nav2005

1.There is a chance that your copy of NAV2005 is corrupted.
2.NAV2005 does not run on some earlier windows OSs.
3.Always mention what OS your machine has.
4.where from did you get NAV2005 copy? CD, trial downloaded…etc.

PS: OS stands for operating system

Smile Nav05 might need your winxp to be up-to-date!

Is your windows up-to-date? SP2 + the other critical updates, especially the latest hotfix (KB893803 Windows Installer 3.1).

If all up-to-date, then I’m out of ideas

Good luck…

you need to compleatly remove all previouse versions of NAV manually there is documentation on nortons web site it is pain in the but to find but search under install failed or somthing like that. there could be a virus. some times when norton has problems like this it is sometimes it is easier to fdisk the drive format it and reinstall windows or just put mcafee or trendmicro on and end the madness. lately norton has had some major issues with their home products the corprate stuff is good but the home has not been too good lately.
