annoying problem in ms word

as you all know, MS Word is a piece of crap... i was pasting some text from web browser to ms word and i was prompted to insert a ms word cd because it was going to install something.... and it did... i have 4 "half-crosses" in each corner and it really annoys me... it's not visible when i print the page, but i want to get rid of it, can someone plz enlight me? sorry if this is a noob question....

well its a bit hard to understand what your problem is w/o actually seeing it... but could it be the view? if you click the 'view' menu on the top of the window and click normal does that get rid of the symbols? try 'show paragraph marks also.
