Problems with "Modem #0 Line Record"

First, this may be in the wrong forum. That just goes to show how much in need of help I am.

Anyway, the other day, I was trying to integrate a video vlip with sound into Flash MX. The movie played fine, but with no audio. I tried a number of different video formats to get it to work. I even isolated the sound and inserted that seperately, yet still no sound. Then, I was working on another project where I was converting a .sfw file into a .avi or .mpg file. The video transfered fine, but the sound didn't. I tried different converters, and the last one I tried said, "No Recorder Device" when I open the program.

I would provide you with more info, but I'm not sure what would be helpful. If you need specific info (which I'm sure you do), please ask. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
