ms visual studio pro xp instalation probs

hey guys,

i'm normaly good at solvong basic computer problems but this has just blown it for me:
i got ms visaul studio a while ago, and for those who have it, u know that the windows components updates has to be installed prior to installing visual studio.

problem is, after installing the components update, i get a real stange message saying that to finish to continua the instalation i have to uninstall the stuff that i just installed

so, i did that, i uninstalled the damn components, and of course the instalation wouldnt cotinum.

plz, can anyone help me with this?
