What version of windows XP is this anyway?

I was wondering if anyone has a tool to tell you what type of Windows XP is on a computer (i.e. OEM, retail or upgrade) and if not, does anyone know how to tell these apart? Perhaps in the setupp.ini file, does that get transfered to the hard drive during an o.s. setup? Any help would be great.
