Sluggish Office XP

Hello All,

I’ve been experiencing problems with Microsoft Office XP. Whether I’m using Outlook, Excel or word the whole suite seems to be running very slowly and sluggish. When opening existing documents it can quite regularly take up to a minute to open and often I get the message “Excel not responding” before the document or spreadsheet finally open. I’ve the latest Mcaffee Anti Virus engine and definition files so it’s not a virus. I’ve tried reinstalling office xp and have even formatted and rebuilt my PC but still the same problem exists. I’m running XP professional as my OS and have a 2ghz processor and 256mg RAM so it can’t be performance related. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Hmm ... I was going to ask in your system .. that really the only thing it could be ... but you already stated it could'nt

Run a defragmenter, and a system cleanup .. I mean I know thats really elementrary ... but it shouldnt be like that

EDIT

Try Microsoft AntiSpyware -- thats better than anything

and AVAST is way better then McAffe or w.e I hate that ... never detects a thing ... get Avast run it ... im sure it may find sumthing

Hi Alucard,

Cheers for your response!

I can't see the pc needing a defrag as it's only a week old the installation. Already got Microsoft Anti Spyware installed. Got the latest engine and definition files for McAfee.

Feel like pulling hair out!!!!!!!!!

Anyone have further input... it would be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Mattipler

I can't find any other similar cases of this particular error on the internet. I've tried applying the Office XP updates and also the Windows XP updates but this hasn't done any good.

It's strange because 4 users in total within my company are experiencing the same problem yet I've been unable to find any other similars accounts.

It's when you select to open a previously created document from either the network or locally that it just hangs and eventually states "Not responding". It's specifically when you click on the drop down arrow when attempting to navigate to the location of the document that it hangs.

HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP ME PLEASE!!?!?!
