You might be correct on this being for the hard drive, but it seems to have an effect when ripping a DVD, it has to do with encoding time (that much I know). Most that are doing this are able to change it to 5 in the box that is gray on mine. I can find my registry and 0001, 0002 have both a master and slave checksum. Which is part of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11C
E-BFC1-08002BE10318}. I am not sure if this will decrease my ripping time, but I would like to try it, guess I will later today by copying these files so I can replace them if it doesn't work.
