Looking for software

Hi,

I find my self formatting my computer and reinstalling windows every month or so, which is quite a painful process especially with the installation and configuration of drivers and programs. I was wondering if any of you know of a program with which I can make an image of my freshly reinstalled & reconfigured system, burn it to dvd and then use the DVD on my formatted harddrive to unpack everything.

Another thing. I have quite an extensive mp3 collection (about 100 gigs) but I am aware of many doubles that exist. These doubles are essentially the same song just with different filenames/bitrates/lengthes. I know there are programs that can get rid of doubles by filename, but is there any software that can get rid of doubles with different names/bitrates/lengthes.

Your help is greatly appreciated, Thanks

Thanks for your help but firstly I am using windows xp and secondly I want to be able to clean my pc and registry, not just restore my files. It is part of my lifestyle to format every know and then and Im just seeking an alternative to having to install and configure all of my programs manually. Thanks anyway

Hi, levy!

You say about imaging software, but as I know bootable DVD is a new way in use and I've never heard about backup program, which create it. But I know exactly that you can create bootable diskettes or CD and CD backup of your boot drive using disk imaging software. It takes not large number of them due to compression.

So I usually do thus:

I create CD backup of my boot partition ( C: ) where all my programs are installed. Then I create bootable rescue CD. In this way I'll be able booting from rescue CD after disc formatting, then boot True Image and run restore process from backup CDs. So I'll have the whole configured system with all necessary programs. (Thank God I haven't such problems yet.)
