Google Earth = 86 viruses

Hello everyone!

Perhaps it's just an amazing coincidence, but I installed and used Google Earth on Windows XP and 3 days later the OS was infested with viruses (86, according to PC-Cillin). Every time I go into Windows, wirthin 5 seconds Explorer will crash. Fixing it now, shouldn't be too difficult.

I didn't make the connection between the viruses and Google Earth until my sister told me she had the exact same problem just days after installing the software.

Has anyone else had this problem? COuld Google Earth create serious security holes in XP that people are exploiting?

Love to hear any people's thoughts.
(btw, Google Earth rocks. Was worth the virus explosion just to use it!)

Using (My PC):
- WinXP Pro with SP2
- 512RAM
- 1.6Ghz
- No anti-virus at the time of installing Google Earth, but WinXP Firewall was up, and Firefox was used for all Net browsing.

I've had it installed for a few weeks. I get no problems with viruses of any sort. You should think about installing a good antivirus and several good antispyware programs if you haven't already.

yeah, sounds like just a coincidence. I haven't gotten a major virus (much less 86) in over a year from good surfing practices, so it seemed the logical conclusion. Who knows! Thanks for the replies guys.

I think you put the tinfoil hat a bit too far down over your eyes and ears
