Exclamation Windows Media Player CD Ripping

A few days ago my power went out while Windows Media Player was running. When the power came back on I opened Windows Media Player and was told that all removable plugins had been removed.

The problem is that now whenever I try to rip a CD, it is incredibly slow. A five minute song is taking at least 20 minutes to rip. Before it would take just a few seconds.

What really bothers me is that it's not even ripping it at real time. But at around 1/4 of the speed of real time. Can Windows Media Player no longer recognize my drive speed? Or is there some other problem?

Perhaps a reinstall of Windows Media Player....

I reinstalled Windows Media Player and the ripping is still incredibly slow, I'll check windows updates and see if they're still running, and see if I can update the player as well.

When I look for plugins it shows no sort of cd ripping or writing anything. I'll see what plugins are downloadable to increase speed. Or anything having to do with either of the cd drives.

By the way I've got a Samsung DVD-ROM SD-616Tdrive and a _NEC CD-RW NR-9100A. Both of which rip incredibly slowly.

Zone Alarm Just told me that Windows Media Configuration Utility just tried to access the internet. In a few minutes I'll try to rip a cd and see if anything happened.

I'm not sure if this contributed to it. But I went to Tools>Options>Rip Music Tab>Compare Windows Media Audio to other formats. Played a few files, stopped and then a few seconds afterward the Zone Alarm notice popped up. Maybe the problem will fix itself.

*Hopes*
