Exclamation Language Bar Ist Kaput!

As a major newbie, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to reinstall the language bar to my taskbar. I've right clicked the bar, scrolled to Taskbar & tried to add it that way; done the Regional & languages route and all to no avail, There HAS to be a remedy short of reinstalling SP2, or at worst a total reinstall of XP isn't there? I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Try this:

Put Windows CD into your drive (the one from which you instaled XP previously), ignore the autorun window (close it). Then go to Run and type "sfc /scannow". It will scan your Windows folder and back it up to the original version. You will lost any update made, but at least you won't instal it all over again!

P.S. There's Space between "sfc" and "/"

Thnx Dragon

Thanks for the advise. I was trying to find something that would work and stumbled on this:

Open the Control Panel
Open Regional & Languages
Click on Details
Click on Add
Open Input Language scroll bar
Add another language (another English language version if necessary)
Click OK
Now exit back out to your destop. A new language bar shoule be installed either on the upper-right hand corner of your screen or on the taskbar beside the clock.
This way I avoided losing everything I had installed.
Once again thanks for the advise. I"m finding some very good tips on tweaking my system and enjoying the computer experience.

I am also having a problem with the language bar. I want to keep it switched on, to switch between US English and UK English. I am based in the UK, but some software will only work if the keyboard is set to US. I managed to find it and switch it on (it was so much easier in earlier versions of Windows, why did MS make it so hard to do stuff in XP?) but every time I boot up the language bar has vanished, and I have to re-enable it by re-enabling Advanced Text Services through the Control Panel. I never had a problem with this in earlier versions of Windows, but in XP everything is so much harder to find and do. XP is crap but it's the best crap MS ever made.

Sorry for the misinformation.
Try this:
Go to Control Panel
Click on Regional & Languages
Click on Languages
Click on Details
Click on Add
Open Input Language Scrollbar
Highlight English US
Click OK
Now exit back out to your destop. A new language bar should be installed either on the upper-right hand corner of your screen or on the Quick Launch Bar just to the left of the taskbar.
Hope this solves your problem.

I do this every time I log in to Windows, as every time I log in, the language bar has mysteriously vanished. Nothing I do can make it come back automatically by itself, I have to do it manually every time. It is a pain, and not something that I should have to do. So i was wondering what would cause it to switch off every time I shut down?
