Gateway system profiler

Has anyone had any success with the Gateway system profiler?

This is something they provide on one of their support pages which is an Active-X control that tries to anaylze your system and prepare a detailed report of exactly what you have.

I'm not sure how accurate any of it is, because I found errors in the report at the very beginning.

It reports that I have a Pentium 4 processor with a 200MHz bus. But the model 840GM specs say it has a Pentium D with an 800MHz bus. The Windows System object reports what I hope is correct, that I do have a Pentium D, and the device Manager even shows the dual processors.

Then, in the memory description, it correctly reports that I have 1GB of memory but it says that there are four slots and "zero" available. But I have checked and know that there are only two memory cards installed and there are two empty slots.

Anyone else have any similar experiences?

This is perhaps the best system profiler that I know AIDA32 you can get it here http://www.sofotex.com/AIDA32-download_L9326.html
it appears that the problem with recognising intel is common, and as to memory it depends whether your mobo has DDR ram slots and SDDR ram, mine had 2 168 pin slots and 2 184 pin slots for ram and could not be mixed.

Hope this helps

Thank you very much, Barbara,

I believe I had seen AIDA quite a while ago. Thanks for refreshing my memory.
