Quicktime in Firefire, how to turn off?

I got an up date for my Quicktime so my Itunes can work and when ever i try to look at some mpg files they keep popping going into the Quicktime plugin instead of what i want, a dialog box asking me if i want to save the file or open it. If anyone can help me thx in advance.
