How to convert scanned text into editable text

Hi folks,

Does anyone know how to convert a scanned page from a book into editable text to a Word 2002 document.

I am using WindowsXP SP1 and Microsoft Word 2002 and a regular scanner Epson Perfection 610.

Thanks in advance.

Johan

You need to use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software when scanning. Some version of that ships with most scanner's software.

Be aware that no OCR software is 100% accurate in interpreting the marks on the original as text. The cleaner (no copier smudges, fingerprints, etc.) and clearer (black text on white paper is best, no fuzziness), the better the results.

The more formatting, like fill-out forms with lines and boxes, the more mistakes it will make.
