Post Problems Deleting File

Okay today i was downloading a file off of Mirc and my computer restarted(because of my bad PSU) during its download. When i turn on comp again and try to delete file it wont let me, when i try to download file again it wont let me. The error message i get is this (Cannot delete "file.avi": the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.) I have made a notepad file and named it the same thing with .avi at the end but nothing. I have done system restore (even though that deals nothing with it), i have tried chkdsk as well but nothing. The only thing i have not tried is going to safe mode actually i have tried but it freezes every time i try to enable it (as you can see i have an unstable system). So any ideas anyone.

Hi, Right click the file and left click PROPERTIES, if the READ ONLY attribute is set click it off. You don't say what OS so can't really help further. With 98 you could go to REAL DOS. You should be able to delete anything from there. Luck , Jim
