Automatically save word document?

Hello all. My father is rather new to using computers and he primarilly uses his to type Word documents. His computer just turns off automatically sometimes (it is not a new computer), and when this happens he losses his work. I am trying to teach him to save about every five minutes, but he forgets to sometimes, and he losses hours of work. Is there some type of program that automatically saves his work like every minute or something like that? Is there some way to get Word to do this? Any help is greatly apreciated.

What version of Word is he using?

If you to to the "Tools" "Options" then "save" - change the time to every 5 to 10 minutes and be sure to set your "file locations" where your dad can find the files again and they'll automatically save his work every five or whatever minutes you set it to.

When he opens up Word again, it should bring up a "recovered" document that has the most recent changes in it. Open that up, rename it to whatever he wants then off he goes.

Most important thing to teach older people when using stuff like Word - FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU START TYPING IS SAVE THE DOCUMENT!!!! Give it a name and save it so you can get it back if something happens.

Hope this helps
