Toshiba Tecra M3 issue with videos (both WinMedia and QT)
Hello all, I'm a first time poster and am currently having an issue which I was hoping one of you might be able to help.
I just upgraded from Windows Media Player 9 to 10 (although I was having the issue with both versions). The issue I'm having is that everytime I click on a video (both work and non-work related, i.e. Yahoo Movie trailers or something), the video will ALWAYS play full screen and the only way I can get to it is if I do a (Microsoft minimize) followed by a right click and end the application or via task manager and end the process. Here are the specs I'm using as well as fix actions attempted thus far:
System:
Toshiba Tecra M3
WinXP Pro (SP2)
1.7Ghz (P4)
512MB RAM
GeForce Go 6200 TE (64MB) video card
Fix actions thus far:
In WinMedia Player, I've tried clicking on the "View" tab, then "Video Size" and adjusting the on/off tabs for fitting the player to video size and vice versa. I've also tried adjusting the percentages to play it on (to say 50%). Also in the "Tools"/"Options"/"Performance"/"Advanced" tab, I've unclicked the "enable full-screen mode switch" to no avail. I've also enabled the ability to use full-screen controls but I can't seem to pull up a toolbar at all (nor when I hit Alt-1,2,etc.) does it do anything.
I've made sure in the Internet Options tab in IE that it's set to play videos in webpages. Quicktime is no better and videos there will play full screen too. The only one I haven't tried is Real Player because I'm not in the mood to install that software on here due to past issues of it deciding to erase random music files that it deemed corrupt.
While I don't care so much about watching Yahoo trailers at work, my main concern are online classes in which I can't take notes due to the damn video feed taking up the screen possibly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as Microsoft Tech support page has been zero help and basically says to click the resize button on WinMedia which I can't do.
Thanks again all and please let me know if you need more info to determine what might be the cause!
