Microsoft Works......

Microsoft Works Word Processor wont open up. The Task Launcher works and everyother thing opens, excpet the Word Processor. Ive Virus/Spyware checked and im clean now, and Ive unistalled/reinstalled and still no Word Processor. Spreedsheet works and all, but when I open up Word Processor it closes down instantly.

First, in My Computer>Tools>Folder Options>View tab, make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is checked and "Hide extensions of known file types" is unchecked.

Then run a Search (on the Start Menu) for "normal.dot" (without the quotes). Note that it's dot, not doc.

Delete all that it finds...which is usually just one.

Normal.dot is a file that Word creates the first time Word is opened which is why repairing/uninistalling/reinstalling Word doesn't affect it. It's that blank document Word opens with. If it gets corrupted, Word can do strange things...not opening is one of them. When you open Word, it will create a new normal.dot.

That didn't work, any other ideas? I did all of what you said, and when I open up the Word Processor it still dosent open up.

Open Office
Its free, it works with all microsoft office file types, better than microsoft office and works. Download it, install it, love it.
Then uninstall works/office
