Good Movie Making Software

I'm looking for program that helps me edit and make movie/video clips. I'm not looking for anything high-tech or professional end. It's just something for course presentation. Unforunately Windows Movie Maker SUCKS cause it constantly crash. Any suggestions on good program?

I have never had a problem with movie maker ...... are you using the version that comes with SP2??

Have you tried disabling background apps while using moviemaker? At what stage of the process does movie maker crash?
