Direct3D problems

I recenlty installed the newest drivers for my nvidea card now I am getting the following errors

when I run the dxdiag I find that there is a problem accessing Direct3D when I check the display tab I find that my card is shown but the amount of RAM is not.

I then uninstalled the newest driver and installed the last known one that worked (I did try a restore point and this did not work). I have directx 9c

anyone any ideas appart from reinstalling windows which i dont want to do as that would mean reinstalling a load of other software
