Need fingerprint reader utility

I need to be able to associate a fingerprint scan with a password for many people.
The software that comes with Microsoft Fingerprint Reader and APC Bionet Password Manager only supports 20 fingerprint data files and compares the scan with all of them- with no password filtering.
Eventually, I would like to accept the scanned data and process it in a VB.Net application I am developing.
Anyone know what the scanned data stream looks like and how to collect it?
