No sound

I have lost all sound on my Advent desktop computer. Under Sounbd and Audio Devices ir simply says "No Sound". There is no reference to any sound card. So how do I get it back>

In XP, you could go to device manager [via;start/my computer/properties/hardware tab/device manager]
Find your sound driver and double click on it, then follow the instructions to remove them and reboot to reinstall them.
